BORING but GOOD EATS!

OK. Nothing exciting to report. It was another pretty tame weekend at the Waller-Meyer household. We had Graham again this weekend and went to his baseball swimming party/BBQ on Sat. I have to admit, I wasn't looking forward to this but it turned out OK and I finally got a little bit of sun. One thing we have been doing lately is cooking from scatch a lot more (we kind of have to since we found out about some food allergies that Graham has). So Sat., we made an awesome meal of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and fresh green beans. It was so freaking good and all three of us keep saying that as we shoveled it in. Later that night, we went to play putt putt and somehow the 9 year old managed to beat the 28 and 31 year olds! What a little stinker!

Sunday, we cleaned our house. We're really not messy people but our house needed a good cleaning. So while Nathan cut the grass, I tackled the bathroom. (Note to self- Make sure Graham turns of the shower before I turn on the water when I'm standing in the tub to clean it! Water on the head when fully clothed is not fun!) We both did the kitchen, dusted the pictures and vents and cleaned the basement. Graham vacuumed for us.

Later that day, we cooked another great meal and had my mom over for dinner. This time it was BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes (left from Sat. night) and sweet corn. My mom made some delicious cookies! Then, Nathan and I watched a movie.

At one point on Sunday, we did work on the music for our slideshow for the wedding. My brother has done an amazing job with the pictures and I can't wait for everyone to see it at the wedding! 48 days and counting!

Weekend Recap

I want to congratulate my friends, Ann and Tim Meadows, on the birth of their twin baby boys on Friday, July 18, 2008. Here are the stats:

Matthew Charles, 5lbs 9oz, 7:48am
Michael William, 6lbs 1oz, 7:50am

They are adorable! You can see pictures at Ann and Tim's blog:

We had a pretty tame weekend. Besides visiting Ann on Friday night, not much else went on that night. I can't even remember what we did but I remember Nathan falling asleep on the couch so we must have just watched TV or something.

Sat. morning, the 3 of us went to the Rec-Plex. I worked out while Graham and Nathan played basketball. Later that afternoon, we met Nathan's sister, Rachel, and her two kiddos at All Saints to meet with the organist for the wedding. We chose the music and will meet with him again on Aug. 9th so Rachel can practice singing some of the songs. Then all of us went to Red Robin and then to the mall for a little bit.

Sunday I had my first fitting for my wedding dress. I have to get some alterations and need to continue working out & eating healthy so I can actually breathe the day of the wedding under all of the constricted layers! Between my slip, undergarment and dress, I'm going to be a sweaty mess the day of the wedding! I hope it's not hot and humid that day! Cross your fingers. We didn't do much else the rest of the day but stay inside in the A/C since it was so hot outside!

Best Fiancee Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's Nathan! Yesterday when I came home he had a card for me that said "Just Because" on the envelope. I thought, "Aw, how nice of him to give me a card." But as I opened it, I could tell there was something inside of the card. I thought it might be candy or something like that. But to my surprise, it was a strand of pearls from the Shane Co.! I was in shock - a good kind of shock - and couldn't believe it. They are so pretty! I don't know what I did to deserve this man but I won the lottery with him! And not just because he bought me pearls. :)

Thanks, Nathan! I love you and can't wait to be Mrs. Nathan Meyer! 58 more days!

Love ya,

Another Shower - I could get used to this!

Me and Christa holding my cake

Me and 5 of my future sister-in-laws (one was missing)

Elaina and her koosh hat :)

Yesterday was my family bridal shower hosted by my Aunt Carol, Aunt Cathy and Aunt Mare (who lives in FL. so she was unable to be there). My mom also did a lot of work for it too. I really appreciate all of their time, financial contributions and effort because it turned out so nice. And I want to thank everyone that came. I had a really nice time and couldn't have asked for anything better. Nathan and I also want to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts. Once again, we spent the rest of the day/night going through all of it. We replaced a lot of our old kitchen stuff with our new shiny, fancy stuff. Nathan put together our pot rack and hung it up on the wall. When he saw everything that we got, he said, "Our family and friends LOVE us!" We both commented how lucky we are to have our loved ones in our life. So once again, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Before the shower, I went to Shane Co. to pay off our wedding rings. I brought Nathan's home but had to leave mine there to get sized. It should be ready on Wednesday.

I can't believe as of yesterday, we are two months away from the wedding. I had the hardest time sleeping last night because I kept replaying the shower in my mind and thinking about all of the wedding details that still need to be taken care of. I'm so glad I opted to take a break from school this semester because otherwise I would have seriously gone crazy.

Not much else went on this weeekend. Nathan worked again and I ran errands and stuff. We did get to go dinner and a movie on Friday night. We haven't done that in a while so it was nice. We tried Tony's on Main for dinner and it was great. Then we saw "Hancock" at the movies and both enjoyed it.

I'll post some pictures from the shower this week so check back for those!

O-L-E-A-N-D-E-R

I promise this is my last post about Scrabble (otherwise you might all think Nathan and I are too dorky to even come to our wedding!) but I have to brag a little. We played a quick game with Graham last night and I used all 7 of my tiles with an "r" that was already on the board. I don't think I've ever done that. The word was OLEANDER. Don't ask me what it means though. Even though we looked it up to verify, I don't remember because I was just so impressed with myself to even listen as Nathan read the defintion from the dictionary. :)

So, it seems as if a lot of people got the wedding invitations on Tuesday. That's quick since I sent them out on Monday. Hopefully by sending them out this early, we will get responses quickly so we can figure out how many more people to add to the reception. Right now, we're paying for 150 but sent out invites to around 205 I think. Our goal was to stay under 200 people.

Also, my bridesmaids sent out the bachelorette party evite. I hope everyone can make it. I know some of you may not like or be familiar with The Drunken Fish (this is where we are going to dinner) but they do have other stuff besides sushi. They have stuff like fried rice, terriaki (spelling ?) chicken, salmon, etc. I also hope most people will book a hotel room. It will be fun to go back and party after the bars close and it will be safer than driving home. If 4 people share a room, the price is about $30 each. A DWI and/or car accident will cost you a lot more! If you didn't get the evite but would like to party with us on Aug. 16th, let me know and I'll send it to you. The more the merrier!

Scrabble - Part Deux

So we played again last night and I won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got much better letters this time around and Nathan kept whining that I would spell a word with the letter he wanted to use (or the next one over) and it would ruin his chances of spelling in that spot. Too bad, so sad. That's the way the game is played! I think we are going to try to play again tonight with Graham. It's a good game for him to play anytime but especially while he's out of school so we can keep his brain working! :)

I'm also sad to report that Pearl Heart was voted off of Nashville Star last night. And that kicker is that I think last night was their best performance to date. I think they will be fine though and this is still their lucky break. One of judges called them the real deal and said they have his number and know where his studio is. I heard the same sentiments on the radio this morning. Everyone thinks they are really talented and will go far. So this is not the end for them but just the beginning!

Invitations, OUT! (Say this like Seacrest, OUT!)

So as the title suggest, the invitations to the wedding went out today! So I guess it's official now! :) Be good little RSVPers and send back the reply cards in a timely fashion so I don't have to hunt you down to figure out if you're coming. :)

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend. Ours was pretty tame. Nathan had to work this weekend so we didn't do too much. On the 4th, we went to lunch with my mom and then later she came over and Nathan grilled some burgers. We watched the Cards lose to the Cubs and that's about it. We didn't even watch fireworks. Our neighbors shoot them off every year and we didn't even venture out to watch those like we usually do.

What else? I met Nathan's mom at David's Bridal so she could compare some flower colors to my dress. I also got my hair cut and colored that day and my mama treated me to a much needed pedicure! Sunday I went to the pool for about 2 1/2 hours with my cousin, Christa. That was nice and relaxing. Last night, Nathan and I played Scrabble and I think we started something. He won and I was thinking today how we need a rematch. When I talked to him on the phone, he said he wants to play again tonight. Then he trashed talked and said he wants to beat me again! I was leading him most of the game and then I got horrible letters and he busted out some big words at the end to pull ahead. Just to plead my case, these were my last letters before we quit:
Q U U U L N N (and there were no open vowels on the board). You spell something with that craziness!

Peace Out,
Dawn

I'm Famous! :)

Wow, this is my 3rd post in 4 days! That's a record for me I think. I just wanted to quickly add the link to my brother's website that has the US Weekly cover he made for the memory scrapbook that my friends gave me at my bridal shower. It's really cute and I love the Justin Timberlake reference! Ha-Ha!

Be sure to read the 2 previous posts from this week too if you haven't yet. Oh, and I think the wedding invites are going in the mail on Monday! Exciting!

Bridal Shower Pictures/Video

My wonderful Matron of Honor, Kelly, brought me the pictures and video she took from my bridal shower this past weekend so I will post some of those.

I'll also mention that Kelly, Amanda (another bridesmaid) and my mom came over to help assemble the wedding invitations. It would have taken me (and Nathan) forever to do them ourselves so I am very appreciative of their help. Nathan was a big help too because he created the maps and ran around for me last night getting some of them copied, etc. And we have to thank his dad who walked him through the printer problems we were having. My mom was nice enough to purchase the stamps for the outside of the envelopes for us. The stupid things require a 79 cent stamp. The lady said if it weren't for the bow, we could have gotten away with a 52 or 59 cent stamp. And of course, they didn't have any pretty 79 cent stamps so we have to put two that added up to 79 cents on there. One is a pretty heart but the other is an ugly clock. I said maybe people will look at it like it's almost "time" for the wedding. Nathan said it could also mean it's "time for love". Anyhow, ignore the ugly stamps! Ha-ha!

On another note, I had to waste a vacation day today for the stupidest reason. I woke up this morning with severe pain in the corner of my left eye. It felt like something was deep down there but I couldn't see anything. It was some of the worst eye pain I've ever experienced. I went to the eye doctor and there was an eyelash embedded down in there. The dr. got it out and my eye already feels so much better. He said it's a little inflamed but I should be able to wear my contacts again tomorrow. But can you believe that? A $40 copay, a wasted vacation day and a lot of pain for a freaking eyelash!!!!! My mom took me to the dr. so we did run a few errands for the wedding afterwards so at least I got something accomplished!
